Sunday arrives much too early for those of us who are jet-lagged or are perpetually tired...and yet we make it to church on the first full day.
Early morning dawns on the Gladden Chapel.
Emma and Elli manage a smile and open eyes.
Carolin and Megan model the latest in YAP T-Shirt style.
And we actually worship as Bob and Pastor Lisa offer communion to all.
....Assisted by Andreas and Kerstin, who also presented official YAP T-Shirts and the following gift.
A group project to piece together the gift from our German friends. Thanks to Simon, Amber, Chad & Jana.
An afternoon walk in Historic Dublin with Lena, Frederieke, Carolin & Christie
Root Beer floats proved to be "interesting" though we doubt this is one cultural experience that is going to go viral in Germany. (Lisa, Jana & Maike...who is still luggage-less)
I think Lisa was all smiles until she tasted it. Perhaps it's and acquired taste or a uniquely American thing.
I realized later that I never DID get my own root beer float (Germans take note: Root Beer is a flavor of soda pop....no idea why the word "beer" is in the name. It has rather a vanilla-type flavor.)
Later in the afternoon Nils and Gracie gave an impromptu string concert...though I think Simon was doing the heavy lifting.
Lo and Bob drove Lena to Lo's HIgh School (Arts & College Preparatory Academy in the Canal Winchester area.)
Many thanks to Sharon and Amy and Pastor Lisa....who are not pictured today....though I promise multiple photos of them on Day 2"s blog...for all their planning...and to our Kitchen Committee for the lunch!
